Sacred Movement Practice – Week 3 – Water

© Le’ema Kathleen Graham — All rights reserved — do not copy or share — thanks!

Welcome to the third week of Shedding Your Old Skin.

This class we’re going to focus on the WATER element as it relates to the belly, hips, sacrum and vulva.

We start lying down. The first section is slow alignment of the spine through rocking and rolling the pelvis.

For the middle part of the practice we become more active and rise to standing, enjoying the playful and sensuous movements of the belly and hips, moving in circles and spirals.

Lead the undulating movement with the belly, hips, vulva or sacrum and allow the other parts of your body to follow.

At the end I’ve included a cool down and rest period. Relax and bliss out!

Meditation Tips – Kidney Breath, Lotus Vulva and Swimming

SapphireBlue-1024x907

Visualize inhaling sapphire blue light into the kidneys, breathing in the quality of valor.

Exhale on a long slow whoooooshhhh sound like you’re blowing out a candle… seeing grey / black smoke as you breathe out, releasing fear.

The kidneys are the organ most responsible for your overall health, longevity, energy, growth and vigor. The kidneys can store the negative emotion of fear. The kidneys help with building of bones and control the water functions of the body.

The positive emotions of alertness, stillness and gentleness are available when the kidney chi is balanced and flowing. The potency and strength of the kidneys help to regulate sexual activity, sexual drive, and menstruation. Kidney chi is an important component of boosting your overall immunity.

The blue lotus is sacred to the ancient Egyptians and the Goddess Isis.

It is a mild euphoric and has a very grounding scent. I use the Young Living essential oil SARA (which contains blue lotus) for healing from sexual trauma. I place it on the body parts that need to be released and healed from any abuse.

The vulva is the portal to life and is an access point of divine creative power. This access point is located behind the position of the physical womb. When enlivened it can enhance a woman’s soul development and power.

At this fragile time for the Earth Mother I believe it is crucial for all women to be practicing womb cleansing rituals. This will liberate us to activate our true power as life givers in healing not only ourselves but our beautiful blue-green jewel of this planet.

Swimming as meditation:

I do something I call mermaid swimming, on my side, really slowly.

I let everything go, and simply focus on the even strokes and even breath.

I fantasize that I am a mermaid or a selkie and that I can swim underwater with all the beautiful sea creatures who live in their ocean home.

When you are near or in any body of water, say this prayer: “Thank you water. I love you water. May all the waters of the world be pure.”

Beauty Tip – Sacred Bathing

Bathing in epsom salts:

I use 1 to 3 pounds (.5 to 1.5 kg) for one long bath. You may add essential oils of lavender, geranium, or frankincense if you like. For a detoxification bath, add one quart or liter bottle of hydrogen peroxide to the epsom salts instead of the oils.

Soak for thirty minutes to an hour. Imagine that you are a snake and you are loosening your old skin. When you finish watch the bath water draining and see all your troubles disappear.

Shower afterwards using a loofah sponge, with long downward strokes from the neck, the armpits, the groin, down the legs, finishing at the ankles.

Snakes shed their skin from their head down to their tail like a sock being taken off inside out. My snakes will soak in their water dish to loosen their skin before shedding.

Swimming in the ocean is the equivalent of a cleansing bath and is a holy act of self-love and sacred play. Enjoy every moment of this type of moving meditation.

Diet Tip – Blue Foods for Vitality

Blueberries have the highest antioxidant capacity of any fresh fruit, soaking up free radicals therefore making them a natural for cancer risk reduction. They are low on the glycemic index, so they are great for improving insulin response, weight loss and lowering cholesterol.

Blueberries are full of anthocyanins, which give them their blue color. They also contain lutein, which helps to boost memory, is good for the eyes, brain and heart.

They don’t lose their nutritional value when frozen, so frozen blueberries are great in a smoothie. They are full of fiber and phytonutrients, vitamin C and manganese.

Blue potatoes are a root food from South America. They are a medium starch high in potassium, an electrolyte mineral responsible for muscles nerves and digestive functions.

I like blue potatoes cut into wedges with olive oil and sea salt, roasted in the oven at 325 degrees. They are yummy this way, and way more nutritious than eating french fries.

And potatoes are a natural antidepressant! 😉
